The Institute for Chartered Accountants England and Wales is a renowned professional membership organization boasting a membership of over 138,000 individuals. Since its establishment in 1880, the ICAEW has been a leader in the global accountancy and finance profession. The organization is highly regarded for maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, technical expertise, and ethical conduct.

The ICAEW awards the prestigious ACA (Chartered Accountancy) designation, which serves as a key to success and is recognized globally. Graduates of the ICAEW’s Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB) program are highly sought-after due to their comprehensive knowledge of the relevant subjects.

The ICAEW has its head office situated in London, and international offices are located in various cities such as Dubai, Beijing, Brussels, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur. The Dubai office was established in 2009 and is based in DIFC.

Hayford Learning Institute collaborates closely with both the London and Dubai offices of the ICAEW to ensure that our students receive the best possible education and exam preparation.

What we offer

ICAEW CFAB & ACA Qualification

The ACA exam syllabus consists of 15 exams; 6 exams at the Certificate level, 6 exams at the Professional level and 3 exams at the Advanced level.  The Certificate level exams is also a standalone qualification in its own right;  ICAEW CFAB and there are designatory letters that can be used upon completing ICAEW CFAB.  The designation is BFP and stands for Business and Finance Professional.

Certificate level and ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (ICAEW CFAB)

  • 1.5 hour, on demand (available any ay of the year) computer-based assessments that can be sat in any order and can be sat globally or by remote invigilation
  • 55% pass mark
  • 4 attempt rule (each exam can be attempted up to 4 times but must be passed by the 4th attempt)
  • £80 exam fee (each)
  • £34 learning materials (each)
  • £185 student registration fee (payable annually, so one payment for CFAB, then x 2 subsequent payments for the following 2 years to complete the ACA)
  • Additional costs to become ICAEW BFP are £25 and then £125 annual subscription

These modules introduce students to the fundamentals of accountancy, finance and business.  The Certificate level of the ACA is a globally recognised independent qualification and can be completed independently of the ACA. It is open to everyone and can be studied independently or via a tuition provider.  ICAEW CFAB can be achieved in 12 months. Upon completion, students will receive their ICAEW CFAB qualification certificate and they can choose to carry on and complete the ACA seamlessly should they wish to.

ICAEW Business and Finance Professional (BFP) designation can be achieved by completing ICAEW CFAB, 12 months’ work experience (the usual time it takes to complete the six CFAB exams) and working through the online ethics learning programme

Continuing on to complete the ACA, there are nine further modules at the Professional and Advanced levels:

  • All of the exams are computer based (2.5 and 3 hour exams sat in March, June, September and December).  Exact exam dates can be found here
  • 55% pass mark
  • 4 attempt rule
  • £112 exam fee (each)
  • £49 – 90 each
  • £185 annual student registration fee 

These final 3 ACA exams are also the ‘Top-up Route’ that ACCA, ICAI and ICAP members chose to study after qualifying with their original body

  • All of the exams are computer based (3.5 and 4 hour exams sat in July and November).  Exact exam dates can be found here
  • 50% pass mark
  • No attempt rule and fully open book so students can take permitted text into the exams
  • £192 exam fee (each) for Corporate Reporting and SBM
  • £272 exam fee for Case Study
  • £88 learning materials (each)
  • £185 annual student registration fee
  • Total fees payable to ICAEW for the ACA qualification excluding tuition fees and assuming all exams are passed first time is £3193
